Auditing Services, Compilations, Reviews & Audits
In a compilation, a CPA collects data from management and then formats the information in financial statements that can be easily read by outside sources. The CPA is not required to verify or corroborate the information. “Compiled financial statements” are free of math and clerical errors, but there is no assurance that compiled statements conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
A review is a more intensive analysis of accounting and financial data. A CPA inquires about the accounting principles and practices, transaction procedures, significant accounting adjustments and the financial data provided by management in a compilation. “Reviewed financial statements” carry limited assurance that they conform to GAAP.
An audit is a formal examination of an organization’s accounts or financial situation. The rigorous, objective examination, conducted with “professional skepticism,” follows generally accepted auditing standards. Financial emergencies, court actions and suspicions of impropriety can trigger audits. The audit includes a review of internal accounting controls and the CPA’s assessment of any risks.
We work in an advisory role to many do-it-yourself business owners who affect the day-to-day accounting operations of their business with QuickBooks. We offer QuickBooks support to help small business owners to better manage their bookkeeping and control cash flow.
PHMM has become a reliable source for individuals, businesses and attorneys preparing for legal actions in civil and criminal courts. Through forensic accounting, rigorous independent audits and digital forensics, PHMM professionals produce admissible evidence to help explain and interpret complex financial transactions for judges and juries.
